A friend of mine said "Accelerate" is a big step up from the last two albums. He was ready to pack it in as an R.E.M. fan after "Around the Sun."
I've heard the same about the new REM album and decided to check it out at ilike.com. They are currently streaming the whole album, the web address is www.ilike.com/R.E.M. Hollow Man is a favorite so far and sounds most like classic early REM fit with some vintage Peter Buck guitar picking.
