Retriever | MP3's Finally Uploaded
What seems like a lifetime ago, before Black Swan Runners and CoCo B's, there was a band called Retriever. Some of the same members, some different. Anyway, my brother reminded me that the Retriever stuff was never uploaded. So, here are some of the Retriever songs. Download away: Evil K, Uncle Benny, Capo, Pen Pal, Q-Tip.

I see this was posted in August, so I'm a little bit late. I hope you don't mind!
When I was 16 or 17, I discovered the gospel of California indie rock through George Chen's fantastic label Zum Audio. First came Zum Audio vol. 1 (or the one that came with Zum #10). I was floored. A lot of those bands are still dear favorites, but none felt as cryptic as Retriever! I played Evil K every day, I feel like. I kind of obsessed over you!
Well, I fell down the rabbit-hole pretty quick and nabbed some releases. First was finding "Ten Second Stereo" unlabeled online, then I bought "Greatest Moments of Doubt", which I adored. I even found this website a long time ago (I had forgotten about it until now!) I think I was about 19 or 20 in college when I e-mailed Keith York from Silver Girl and grabbed a copy of "Ten Second Stereo" proper. It's one of the records I'm most proud of. Plus the "Mon Ami" cassette... being a record collector nearly two decades past a band's dissolution isn't easy!
At the risk of spilling over, I just wanted to let you know how important your music was to me. I started a YouTube account solely dedicated to uploading music I thought the world should hear! And now as I look at databases like Discogs and Rate Your Music, I'm finding that my videos worked.. people are listening to Retriever. So, I want to thank you. I should have just sent an e-mail that long ago!
