Our buddy Alex Newport recently mixed a new song, "Long Division," for the forthcoming Death Cab for Cutie album that a lot of people are anxiously awaiting to hear. So far they've released a single, "I Will Possess Your Heart" from the album that sounds way different than their previous stuff. Check it out at their Myspace.
Last year we played a show at Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa with Airborne Toxic Event and all of us were completely blown away. So we're really looking forward to playing with them again and The Soft Hands on Thursday, 03/27/08 at Sachi in Long Beach. You can get advance tiks by clicking here.
The other day Joe mentioned a new band he heard called The Coast and said they reminded him of Rogue Wave, Tokyo Police Club & maybe bit of The Ocean Blue. Found out these guys are from Toronto, Canada and currently on tour. They sound fantastic and will be at The Silverlake Lounge in Los Angeles this Monday, 03/24/08. You can stream their whole album at their myspace.
Tokyo Police Club's previous releases were in constant rotation in the player throughout last year, so it's actually kinda exciting to hear new stuff from them is on the way. Their first full length album is set to be released in the U.S., Canada and Australia on April 22 and in Europe on May 5, 2008. They've uploaded a new song from the album onto their myspace called "In a Cave," it's super catchy and well worth the trip over there.
We decided to create some Merch using this website called Zazzle that has partnered with Myspace and kinda went a little nuts with it. We weren't too sure about the quality and ordered some of the stuff ourselves and it actually turned out top notch! We were really impressed. CoCo B's mousepads, buttons, T-Shirts, etc.... even coffee mugs. Pretty funny.
From NPR.org "Coming out of a post-punk world that had little tolerance for pop, R.E.M. has spent 25 years as the bastion of pop music with a weird glimmer in its eye. Hear the legendary rock band perform a full concert at SXSW, webcast live on NPR.org from Stubbs in Austin, Tex., on Wednesday, March 12."
We're real excited to be playing a show with The Wombats from the UK this Tuesday, 03/11/08, at Spaceland in Los Angeles.
I heard today that Danger Mouse will be producing the new Beck record? Call me crazy, but that's going to be one anticipated release. Is there anyone Danger Mouse hasn't worked with yet? I didn't know he worked with Sparklehorse / Mark Linkous' latest album "Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain," where have I been?
We're real excited to be featured on RCRD LBL as they posted an exclusive download of the song "Bluebird" from our first EP, Basement Songs: Firehawks and Dirtybirds EP1. Feel free to visit our http://rcrdlbl.com/artists/CoCo_Bs/music page and download away, it's really pretty cool and it's FREE. If you dig the song, we still have some of the EP's available directly from us on CD.
